Saturday 15th August, 12-3pm, Circular Quay
2019 saw the inaugural Soapbox Science event in Sydney, which was held with the iconic backdrop of the Sydney Opera House & the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
We had 12 fabulous speakers that attracted a crowd of over 600 people, despite the freezing cold weather & strong winds!!
Speakers and audience alike had a great time & everyone learned something new!

Attendees demographic
45% just happened upon the event, 55% seen our advertising.
40% never or rarely attend science events, 40% often attend and 20% attend very often.
27% were students or past students, 37% had a science or science related jobs and 36% had no involvement or science was a hobby.
40% were family groups, 40% were solo attendees & 20% were adult groups.
75% were from NSW, 10% were interstate & 15% were international
70% had an undergraduate or masters degree , 15% had a PhD and 15% had no university level education
47% were male & 53% were female
Attendees evaluation
85% of attendees thought it was a great platform to promote women in STEM
70% were likely to find out more about the topics
85% would talk to friends about what they heard at the event
90% would recommend attending Soapbox Science Sydney to others
